BAFE Fire Alarm Accreditation
Gardner Security has successfully been audited for all four modules of the BAFE SP203 Standard; Designing, Commissioning, Installation and Servicing of Fire Alarm Systems.
BAFE is an acronym of the British Approval of Fire Equipment accreditation body - one of two that meets the requirement of new legislation relating to fire alarm systems introduced recently by the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA).
Put simply, this legislation states that the Fire Service will NOT attend site following a fire alarm activation unless the Alarm Receiving Centre that monitors the alarm system can quote them a Unique Reference Number (URN) for that specific fire alarm system. These URNs can only be issued if the system has been installed and serviced to BAFE SP203 or LPS1014.
One of the main reasons for this legislation is because the CFOA strongly believes that the Fire Service’s valuable time and resources are currently being wasted attending false alarms due, in part, to poorly installed systems which are serviced by non-regulated Fire Alarm companies. By legislating that a Fire Alarm company must demonstrate the highest standards in all aspects of its operation, they believe that false alarms will be virtually eliminated.
Gardner Security is delighted to be one of the first companies locally to achieve BAFE accreditation. Indeed, we passed the rigorous inspection without a single non-compliance. This award complements our existing NSI Gold Standard in Intruder, CCTV and Access Control.
Future Proof Your Fire Alarm System
Fire can be devastating - lives can be lost and property destroyed, so we want you to be confident that you have got the best. Our BAFE accreditation gives you that confidence.
You can be confident that your fire alarm system will do the job, without having to wait until there’s a fire to be certain. BAFE gives you tangible proof that Gardner Security is competent to design, install, commission and maintain fire alarm systems.
You can be confident that the Fire Service will attend your property if there is an fire alarm activation. Unlike systems installed by less competent installers, Gardner Security installed systems are BAFE accredited so every system is issued with that all-important URN.
You can be confident that fire alarm systems installed by us will comply with current legislation, not only now also but in the future because within the next few years, this legislation is going to be enforced retrospectively.
A retrospective inspection is likely to be expensive, disruptive and time consuming because the whole system will have to be pulled apart so that everything from the basic design to the cabling and installation can be examined to ensure that it meets current Standards.
A Gardner Security installed fire alarm system gives you confidence that it has been designed, installed, commissioned and maintained to the highest possible standard and will do the job.
